2.    A waiver for pre-existing medical conditions(1) is available for trips costing $20,000 per person or less and can be purchased up until the full or final payment is made(2). Coverage for an existing medical condition or conditions can be included for both traveling and non-traveling family members if the following conditions are met...

        a)    you purchase trip cancellation coverage that covers the full cost of all non-refundable trip arrangements, such as air tickets and non-refundable shore excursions and sightseeing, including those purchased from outside suppliers.

        b)    the total cost of your non-refundable trip cost does not exceed $20,000 per person

        c)    you are a U.S. resident and medically able(3) to travel on the day you purchase the plan.

    (1)    Existing Medical Condition – an illness or injury that exhibited symptoms or for which  treatment was received any time during the 120 days prior to purchasing the plan.

    (2)    If an early payment is made, prior to the actual final payment date for the vacation, insurance must be purchased no later than that same day for the pre-existing medical condition exclusion to be waived. When making a full and final payment on a reservation, the travel protection must be purchased immediately on the same day for the pre-existing medical condition exclusion to be waived.

    (3)    Being medically able to travel on the date the policy is purchased means that you are not disabled to travel when the policy is purchased and that you can actually travel on the date of policy purchase.

Some factors to consider when determining if your condition prevents or substantially interferes with your ability to travel include: 1) whether you recently had a significant change in medication, 2) whether you require medical assistance or ongoing treatment, or 3) whether you have a medical procedure scheduled in the period between your trip purchase and planned departure dates (for which continuing side effects are known or likely to occur).
